THE HONGKONG DAILY PRESS, SATURDAY, MAY 22ND,
Yesterday's shipping statement, show- cargo ed a consideinble decrease in both for Hongkong and. for parts beyond. Hongkong cargo was roughly 10,000 tons down, and that for ports, beyond just over 3.000 tons below that entered for the preceding twenty-four hours.
Am yesterday there were 57 vessels in the harbour, of which 20 were British. During the previous twenty- four hours eleven vessels arrived, rit- four British, one, French, one Dutch, two Japanese and three Chinese. The depar tures over the same period came to twenty, rit.-nine British, wo Dutch, six Japanese, two Chinese and one American.
