THE WING ON CASE.
SPEECHES BY COUNSEL. When the Wing On case was resumed at the Criminal Sessions before Sir Henry Gollan (the Chief. Justice) yes terday, Counsel both for the defence and prosecution delivered lengthy spee- ches to the jury.
Referring again to the explanation given by the cashiers of the Bank's refusal to retain a deposit of $1,000, Counsel called it an unblushing lie. They had stated that the depositor had been requested to withdraw all his money, because he had withdrawn "large amounts within a few days of the original depositing.
Mr. Zeitlyn pointed out that when, the Mr. F. C. Jenkin, appeared with Mr.witnesses had given evidence at the H. G. UTTERLY UNCORROBORATEN.
Mr. Alabaster, speaking on behalf of Lam Fook Chiu, stressed the point that should be suspicions and inferences strictly ignored. He emphasised the fact that it was for the Crown to prove
their case.
Could the jury believe, he added, that the man who was such a clever forger The would worry about the label

Lam had given evidence, but those questions were never put to him.
Flealing with Tam. Lay, he said that not a single person mentioned by him had ever been employed at the Chung Wah shop in Canton. "There was 'no evi- dence that Tam Lay, except on his own version, was ever employed there. Coun sel submitted that his story was wholly
untrue,
Peculiarly enough, the envelope was missing. The cashier said there was no envelope on the back when it was put in. Mr. Bulmer Johnson had stated that it had the envelope.
