SHANGHAI RACES RESULTS OF OPENING DAY OF SPRING MEETING.

The Spring race meeting, held under the auspices of the Shangbai Race Club, com- manerd. yesterday and will be continued today, to-morrow and Saturday. It is of especial interest since it is the first meeting at which a distinction has been drawn between the China pony and the cross-hred. Ponies are now divided into

Y and classes, the former being "China ponies" and the latter cross breds. Y. einss shall be goldings, but geldings or mares are eligible for Z class. The oficis inspectors, who classify the ponies must be " veterinarians."
