SHIPPING NOTES.

At the Mabing Court yesterday," "before Lirut.-Commander 6, F. Hole, N. the master of the steam-inunch Kwong Chow was fined $10, with the alternative of ten days hard about, for failing to observe the rule of the road.

The saifoong (a former, Douglas stramer) sold above five weeks ago to the San Poh Stram Navigation Company, of Shanghai, has now taken her place on the run between Shanghai and the lower Yangtze River ports. The Haifay was formerly known as the Tangus,, and has been for many years on this coast and at one time belonged to the Wilhelm Wilhelmen Steamship Company of Tons- berg, Norway. The steamer is of 2,300 tons d.w., has a length of 271 feet, breadth of 36 feet 3 inches, and her draft fully loaded is 17 fert. She can carry first-class passengers, 60 second-claps, 80 third-class and 560 deck passengers. Captain Edmund Hassel. senior captain of the San Poh S.N. Co., has been ups pointed master of the Heifong, or rather the s.. ·Pol Ng Ning, as the steamer will now known.

The 8.8. Prento, a Norwegian esast. ing vessel, has been again chartered for another year in the China coast trade, and will be principally engaged on the Swatow and Singapore run. At one time she used to ply regularly between Saigon and Hongkong. She is fitted to be able to carry a large number of coolies, "and Mesars. Karsten Larsen & Co., are her lucal agents.
