NEW YORK WOMAN'S TALK TO LONDON.

EVERY WORD HEARD DISTINCTLY. A special correspondent of the Daily, Vail wrote

on May 8th:-Yesterday afternoon, at the invitation of the British Post Office, I went to the Landon Trunk Telephone Exchange in Queen Victoria-street, E.C., and enjoyed a two- minutes wireless telephone conversation across the Atlantic with Miss Mabel

50TH ANNIVERSARY. Here in London we are commenting on the fact that this unique Trans atlantic talk is taking place during the year which is the 50th anniversary of the first telephone patent-taken out by Dr. Graham Bell.

I suppose our next wonder will be when we shall be able to see each other, as well as talk to each other, across the Atlantic.

We then went on to chat about the prospects of an airship service across the Atlantic, and Miss Abbott confirmed the report, which I said I had heard, that the new 0,500,000 cubic feet gas capacity American airship is to be used in an experimental aerial service be- tween New York and London. From this we were getting on to the subjeét of radio-controlled aeroplanes when an official voice interrupted us, in the same way as in any ordinary telephone call.
