SHIPPING NOTES,

Masters of several vessels which ar rived yesterday from the south reported that during the voyage to Hongkong fresh" monsoons, gales, and heavy sets had been encountered, the weather moder rating as Hongkong was approached,

At the Marine Court yesterday, before Lieut-Commander G. F. Hole, R.N., an unemployed Chinees, way sentenced to one month's bard labour for being on board the Emprène, of Humalt without permission.

At the sami Court, the masters of the steam launches Aeolus and Tuikow Hing, were fined $5 cach, with the alternative of five days' hard labour, for being along- side the s... Changte, where there were two other launches already in position.
