THE PRINCE'S FIRST OFFICIAL FUNCTION IN HONGKONG,
HR. Prince George, K.G., G.C.V.O., [ acting on behalf of His Majesty the King. held an Investiture at Government House on Saturday morning investing HE the Governor (Sir Ceel Clementi, K.C.M.G.), the Hon. Sir Shou Son Chow, K. B., the Hon. Me, E. R. Hallifax, CMC, and Mr. George Duncan, M.B.E, with the insignia of the honours recently conferred on them.
His Royal Highness also invested two- officers of the 3th Un. 2nd Punjah Regi- ment, with the Order of British India, and Mr. George White with the Albert Medal for gallantry.
His Royal Highness drove to Cavern- ment House along a routé lined with naval unita and soldiers. The naral units, selected from every warship in the har- bour, lined each side of the road frem the Prince of Wales' Gate, Naval Yard, to the Volunteer Headquarters in Garden Road, whence the line on each side was continued by solliers from the 1st Bn. The East Surrey Regiment up to Govern ment House.
The Royal Guard of Honour was? furnished by the Scottish Company of the Hongkong Volunteer Defence Corps, and was under the command of Lieut. D. C. Loghin, M.C., who is the acting Offcer Commanding the Company.
This is the first time in the history of the Hongkong Volunteer Defence Corps shat it has been asked to supply a Royal tiaard. The company honoured by selec-| tion to provide it paraded on the Hong- kong Cricket Club Ground at ten o'clock, and headed, by their pipers and drums they marched to Government House, pre- senting a very smart and striking appear. ance in their kilts.

His Royal Highness" inspected the Gaard of Honour, which were drawn up on the lawn at the front entrance to Covermaent House, heföre catering for the purpose of performing the investiture in the Ball Rouin."
The Band of H. M.S. Hawkins (agship of the China Station) was in attendance in the Ball com and played selections while the guests assembled.
The ADC. on duty for the purpose. of abowing guests to their seats were Captain Dowbiggin, Captain Swinton, Mr Whyte and ir. Forster (the last named being: Private Secretary to H.E.. the Governor), Captain Steele (A.D.C. to ILE. the Governor) superintended the assembling in the Drawing Rooms of those who were to take their places on the dais in the Ball Room.
