During the morning the Government telephones between Hongkong and Kowloon would not function, but repairs were carried out, and by the afternoon, communication, though somewhat desultory had been effected. This was extremely fortunate, because the only link with the various police stations, even with those on the border, is by telephone.
At the point where the mishap occurred, there are seven cable lines traversing the harbour, and the ordinary marks are set up to point out to mariners the part of the harbour where they should not anchor their vessels.
