It is true, as this person says, that I am new to the Colony. Being new to the Colony, I am curious to know just how far this person I have already alluded to, may be taken as a fair sample of the in- habitants of Hongkong. Is it a common sort of occurrence here to hold an inoffen- sive stranger up to public ridicule in the newspaper? I don't like it, and consider it extraordinarily offensive. However, it takes all sorts to make a world, and I can only presume that his person fulfils some purpose in the scheme of creation Now as regards this question, IF over which the people in Hongkong seem to be getting all hot under the collar. I certainly admit making the remarks and airing the views attributed to me, but never dreaming that they would b blazoned about like this. Partly because resent having my privacy fareed, na häs been done in this case, and partly because I don't want to be called a far, I do not propose, at present anyhow; to give my solution of that problem in public, Perhaps if this unpleasant person, this ill-mannered boor, chooses to publish an apology in as public a manner as he published his original article, I may reconsider my decision.

I will say this, however, that if there was a Society of Psychical Research our here, I should be very pleased to submit all my experiences to them, and obtain their opinion on a subject which I may say without undue boasting, must be unique..

Most of us have heard of Eastern Magi: which is referred to, usually, in a cop descending manner, and with a tolerant

Conditions were unfavourable, there

being scarcely any wind, and the boats

were becalmed for some time: Tho course was, therefore, changed to a dis- tance of 4.0 miles

Eight beats entered, and the first three home were Sealark, Adele and Ailen. The Gael and Meesing did not finish.

On Saturday afternoon, the Club fours had a short race over the usual course en a line from Channel Rocks to the Club. Three boats only entered. Mr. Robin- son's crew-were first, being three-quarters of a leagth in front of Mr. Jack's crew. Mr. Easterbrook's crew were last.

YESTERDAY'S RACE.

Yesterday the fourth cruiser champion- ship race was sailed, the course being from the Club around Lamma Island, a distance of 25 miles.

Eight boats started. The wind was about force four, and the boats had a pretty good run down the harbour and from Sulphur Channel. In Sandy Bay the boats were becalmed, all of them bei ing close together. The U. and I was the first boat to catch the easterly wind, "What happened in my case was that I and she tacked over to Ficnic Bay. I have no doubt whatever, that if I was to state the bare facts of my experiences, I should immediately and unceremoniously suffer from both indigni- ties.
