SHIPPING MOVEMENTS.

The R.M.S. Empress of Asin left Van couver for Hongkong, rid Japan ports and Shangbai, on February 7th, and is Jue bere on February 28th.

The R.M.S. Empress of Russin arrived at Nagasaki on Monday at 7.30 p.m., left on Tuesday at 8 a.m., and is due at Kobe to-day (February 10th), at 7 a.m.

CHINA COAST CHANGES.

The following are the latest China Coast changes:-

Mr. L. Stevenson, has signed of the Chak Sony as 2nd mate and has gone Mr. Woodford, Foo Shing, has gone 2nd mate of the Chuk Sang.

3rd mate of the same vessel.

Mr. J. G. Campbell, Kingyuan, has gone 1st engineer of the Kiungehow.

Mr. A. R. McDavid, has signed of the Helenus as supernumerary 4th-mate and has gone ith mate of the Tyndarrus.

Mr. W. L. Haydock, bas aigned off the Helenus, as 8th engineer and has gone 8th engineer of the Tyndareus,

Mr. E. G. Hutton, has signed off the Tyndareus as 6th engineer and has gone "supernumerary engineer of the Lae

medon.

Mr. L E. Paine, has signed off the Lot Sun. as 2nd engineer:

Mr. T. C. Malcolm, has signed off the Hop Sang as 2nd engineer.

HONGKONG ÄRIPPING.

Yesterday's shipping statement show- ed that the number of vessels in the harbour at 9 am. was 71, of which 38 were British.

The arrivals for the twenty-four hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday number- ed sovan, riz.-Ave British, one American add one German. Departures over the sante period came to nine, including one for Amoy and one for Kwang Chow Wan; with three clearances.

Of the cargo entered for Hongkong, no less than 3,043 tons were carried by British vessels, only 70 tons being brought by other nationalities. A fenture of the report was the heavy entries of cargo for parts beyond compared with the cargo entered for Hongkong. The heaviest entry for Hongkong was 1,740 tons, the remainder being all under à thousand tons

The arrivals for the period under re- view were as under The 8.5. "Borned (BF) from Haiphong and Hoihow with 910 tons of rice and general cargo and mail; the s Ho Song: (B:.) from Calcutta and, Singapore with 1,740 tons general cargo and mail and 5,584.cons for ports beyond; the s.s. Enmaeus (Br.) from "Cheloo and Shanghai" with twó toas of general cargo, mail and 3,666 tons for porta beyond; the s.3. Kanchow (Br.) from Shanghai with 183 tons of general cargo and mail; the s.s. City of Christiana (Br.) from Bremen vid ports with 208 tons of general cargo and 8,500 tons for ports beyond; the 8.8. Jara

Arrow (American) in ballast from Sab. ang and Cocanda and the 5.8. Presen (German) from Shanghai with 70 tons of general cargo, mail and 7,002 togs, for ports beyond.

Later arrivals yesterday, too. lase for entry in the above returns, included the a... Lee Sang (Br.) from Hoihow with general cargo and the sa. Fushimi Jara (Japanese) from Straits with gen- eral cargo and mail.

SHIPPING NOTES.

The master of the s.s. Mania reported to the Harbour Office that on February 7th a derelict water-logged junk was passed in Latitude 23° 45′ N.; Longitude 120 4 E. The junk is dangerous to navigation.
