After an extra chukker, with widened goals, had been played the result was a draw of 3 goals each. The re-play will take place on Saturday afternoon next.

H.E. Major-General Luard, C.M.G., G.O.C., kindly officiated, as umpire and in the second chukker had to order one of the Civilian players, Mr. Bartholomew, bff the field of play, Kailan Mining Ad... account of the waywardness of his mount -the notorious New Fork.

At the time, the score was 9 all; and the civilians with only three men did well to keep the Navy from further scor ing.

In view of this circumstance, and the fact that the Civilians did most of the pressing, in a somewhat scratchy game, the Naval men are to be congratulated on the "Joss that enabled them to draw against a team that had a decided advantage in borse fesh,

In the opening chukker, the Civilians had all the advantage in the first minutes and Bartholomew put them one goal up. Spragge, however, very 800 took advantage of an opening to make the

scores level.

After a penalty against the Navy, in the closing minute, Bartholomew got clear away and put his side once more in the lend.

Early in the second period, Spragge scored a second point for the Navy.

Nothing of note occurred in the third chukker, each side failing with open goals on more than one occasion.

The opening half of the fourth chukker | China Buses produced the best polo of the match, China Lights (combined) Thompson and Spragge being especially prominent. Fine combination between these two, resulted in Spragge scoring his third goal and making the score 39 in favour of the Navy. The sailors, how. ever, did not maintain the lead for long, Ry Pollock scored for the Civilians just before the bell sounded.

With the score 3-3, an extra chukker, with widened goals, we decided upon; but though the Civilians had decidedly the better of the exchanges, the game ended with the score unaltered. In the last minute, the Navy goal came under a regular bombardment, Pollock being unlucky in breaking his stick when at- tempting to put the finishing touch to a shot from Stanton, which only needed a gentle tap to turn it inside the posts-

Unfortunately, the Civilians will be without the services of Bartholomew next Saturday- fact which should "level matters somewhat and provide another

close tussle.

The teams were:-

The presence of the Royal Marine Band from H.M.8. Hawkins added much to the afternoon's enjoyment,
