SHIPPING NOTES.

A Batavia correspondent in the course of a letter to a Straits contemporary By-The 8.9. Tjipus, of the Java- China Japan Line, had an adventurous voyage on her last trip from Saigon to Sourabaya, running foul of a "heavy storm, Heavy seas were shipped and to make matters worse the steering gear be olate defective so that the ship was un- manageable. After considerable difficulty. the damage was repaired and the ship. was able to continue ita voyage. Luckily the cargo has only been slightly damaged by the sea water shipped."
