The shipping statement for yester number day showed that the total

of yeawls in the harbour' at 9 a.m. was 62, of which 32 were British.

During the twenty-four hours ended at 9 . yesterday there were seved arrivals, viz. three British, one Amer CAD, obe German, one Chinese and one Japanese. The departures for the same period numbered eleven, including the

"SHIPPING NOTES.

The master of the ss. 'onfucius (Chinese) ported on arrival in port yesterday that the vessel had encountered heavy monsoon weather, 100 miles off Gap Rock.

The ss #unt, which is being re placed on the flungkeng Canton run by the 3. Engan, is to be taken off the run on Saturday when she is to be handed over to her purchaser, Mr. Yuk Shue, of Messra Kang Wo, blackwood furniture manufacturers, of Hollywood Road. The Lungakan. which has been laid up for some time through the strike, is to go to Dock to-day or to-morrow for any necessary repairs and over- hauling to be carried out, in readiness to run alternately with the Patshan to Cantan.

The Taishan, the new river steamer of the Hongkong, Canton and Macaé Steam

built at boat Company, which was Taikoo, and carried out her dockyard trials inst week, is to undergo her finn speed trials in a few days and will then he handed over to her owrerg to be placed on service.

The Santos Murs is a fast ship. The voyage from Hongkong to Bantes, Brazil, is scheduled to take 49 days ag compared with 57 days usually taker by other vessels. She has spacious and modern accommodation for passengers.
