SHIPPING NOTES,

THIS

Yesterday's shipping statement show- ed, a considerabre unprovement in the returns compared with those for the previous twenty-four hours. The arrivals were increased by nine and the total number of vessels in the harbour at 9 a.m. yesterday was 6, of which 20 were British, compared with 57 and 24 at the same hour the previous day..

The arrivals for the twenty-four hours wöre yesterday ended at D .121. thirteen, against four tor the previous twenty-four hours. The nationalities of the arrivals were Ave British, one French, one Italian, three American, one Fortu guese and two Japanese. The departures for the same period numbered seven and plearances three,

The total cargo entered for Hongkong for the twenty-four hours ended at 5 am. yesterday was 12:173 tons, against 4,170 tops for the previous twenty-four hours. Four Aguro entries were made by three British vessels, namely the as Antenor (1,5 tons), the ss. Hong Sang (2,130 tons) had the as Lai Sang (1,106) Shinsei aru tons); while the .. (Japanese) entered 5,430 tons of coal. For port beyond Hongkong thero was entered cargo amounting to 18,474 tons, against only 45 tons for the previous day. The combined cargo entered to talled 98,6-17 tons, compared with 4,215 tous proviously.

Hamburg, on November 10th. The ship has been named Japanese" Prince. The Japanese Prince is one of the five motor vessels for which contracts were placed by Messra Furness, Withy & Co. The new motor ships are intended for the Far Eastern service from the United States, and they will, Sir Frederick Lewis said, be the fastest cargo vessels in the trade.
