The shipping statement for yesterday showed that the total number of vessela in the harbour at a rum, was, of which 42 wern British.
For the 24 hours ended at 9 am yes- terday there were 13 arrivals, of which right were British, one French, one Portuguese, our firman, three Japanese and"one" Chinese, The departures for. the same period numbered 13, two of whom were for Swatow, and six vessels had intered papers for clearance yes terday.

it is interesting to note that the armed launches which, for the past few months have been engaged in anti-piracy patrol in the Canton River, have been taken i bver by H.M. Navy, and their cost now no longer falls on the Colony. The names of the launches have been changed since they became naval units, and they are now known as the "Faulkner" (formerly" J's On), Onslaught (formerly Shươm fre) and Nexxus (late Done Juan), The Fing Le said one other have been paid off.
