A practice match took place on the Craigongower ground on Saturday, be tween the C.C.C. and the Police The latter batted first and declared with 139 runs for four wickets, the oustanding feature of the innings being $6 by Alexander. Craigengower opened their innings badly, but a good partnership was seen between Reed (36 not out) and Zimmern (17 not out). Owing to dark ness, with the C.C.C. score at 80, the match was left drawn.

home team entertained "H.M.S. Tamer. The sailors folded a very good side, but were beaten by the galy goal scored. The ground is not in good condition, but. within the next fortnight no doubt the Club will get it into trim for the opening League game when the East Surrey's meet the Club de Recreio.

The game throughout was keenly.con- tested and both sets of forwards, although good in the Aeld, showed a weakness in front of goal. The chances missed by both sides are too numerous to mention for when goals seemed certain the ball was either turned outside the posts or skied over the bar. The Club wing men wore in fine fettle and showed good specdi.

Johnstone as the pivot is good, and with Forsyth at his best, visitors to the Club ground this season should see a 27 large number of goals scored. Bishop 4 stood down in this game, Watson drop- ping back to make room for McBride, a newcomer to Hongkong football. Rodger captained the side and won the toss in the opening match. Stewart ad, Mair were, as usual, very sound in defence and held the sailors forward line.

The Tamar have several. new players. this season. Crocker, who played for the 2 Navy four or five seasons ago, appeared

in goal in place of Wavish. Badcock was the pick of the backs, but had the mis- fortune to get hurt in the latter half of the game. The sailors' middle line, ably ed by Carter was good. while the for |wards showed plenty of dash, but little

accuracy in shooting.

With more practice in finding the net they would be a well balanced team.

After playing a blank Erst half, the only goal of the match fell to the Club somewhat luckily, Crocker fielded out i header from Forsyth and Hill, running in, cat ht the ball from the rebound and sent it into the net" giving Crocker no . chance.

U.S.C.C. v. H.M.S. "HERMES."

On account of the bad state of the cricket pitch at Happy Valley, the match between the C.S.C.C. and H.M.S. Hermes was postponed.

SATURDAY'S GAMES.

An appeal by the goalkeeper for an o infringement by Hill was not successful O although the sailors placed the ball for Du goal kick. The sailors struggled hard to level up but time was against them and they had to admit defeat thy a goal to

Three matches in connection with the Spey Cup Competition were played at Happy Valley on Saturday.

Craigengower C.C. (this season's cham- pions) met the Kowloon CC on the Civil Servics C.C. ground and after a thrilling game lost by £ve points.

The Kowloon Bowling Green Club de feated the Hongkong Yacht Club by thirteen points. The game was played ou the Police Recreation Club ground.

The Civil Service C.C. met the East Point Recreation Club on the Craigen rower C:C. ground and won easily bỹ 23

to 10.

A keen game was played between the Police and the Kowloon Dock Recreation Club on the Kowloon Cricket - Club's Green. At the twentieth head the score stood 19 all but in the Soal head the Dock secured four points and won by

23-10.

The match on the South China ground between their "E team and FLM.S. fermes was in the nature of a stiff tussle. The Chinese mustered in full force, and scored in the first half, which was all the scoring before the interval.

A good crowd assembled at the Kow. toon Football Club's ground to witness the friendly game between the lacals and the East Surrey Regiment. ·

The game was remarkably fast through- cut, and some of the players on both Greensides showed remarkably good form for

the beginning of the season...
