There were only minor developments in the strike situation rester. day. A few more men went out hore and there but they did not materially affect the position. The general strike; as announced in our last issue; is a full swing and any change now must almost necessarily be a change for the better*
In the meantime it is satisfactory to note that the Police are putting into force the powers of deportation granted to them by the order of the Governor-in-Council, and it is sincerely hoped by all that the policy "of rounding up the undesirables will be pursued ruthlessly." The parade of the armed forces of the Colony last evening made a brave show, and it it is a thousand pities that demonstrations of this character were not made at the commencement of the trouble...

A good many of the Daily Press workmen left yesterday morning, despite police protection and all other precautions, and this paper has only been produced with the greatest difficulty. The indulgence of sub- scribers is, therefore, asked for any imperfections: Yesterday's strike details are so under :-) DEMONSTRATION MARCHES Yesterday evening the 1st Battalion the East Surrey Regiment, the Hongkong Volunteer Defents Corps and a detach ment from the British naval boats in harbour made a demonstration march through the City. The Surreys headed by their regimental band and the naval contingent, 1,000 strong, from H.M. S. Titania, H.M.A.B. Brisbane and from submarines, headed by a Naval band, went through the Western district. The Volun teers marched vid Happy Valley to the Eastern district and returned through Wanchai to Headquarters.

Dr. Teo, the Labour Controller, informed a Daily Preas representative yesterday that a Street Committee had been formed to select Chinese to guard the strais in which they lived.
