OBITUARY.

WEM

THE LATE INSPECTOR P. ANGUS, After an illness, which had lasted for several weeks, the death occurred at.330 m. yesterday at the Government Civil Hospital, of Inspector Peter Angus, of the Water Police.

In the meantime the general impression

Inspector Angus, who had been for the among the public and in allicial circles appears to be that there is little to past 8 years in the Hongkong Police, was a very popular officer. A native of do but to wait upon events in Canton.filasgow, he joined the Force in January, 1997, as a constable, and in 1919 he was appointed Inspector.

The strike was engineered from there and the only question of interest in how long the Canton Government will be able to stand the strain of feeding and, keeping in order a horde of Hongkong labourers, The cast of living in Canton and in the villages around is going steadily up and nothing can prevent it from rising higher still. There may be a definite sign of any, food shortage at the moment but it cannot be many weeks before the position In Hongkong there is no reason why we should not keep on as we are going now for months if necessary The prospect is not one that pleases us,

becomes sente-

During the time he was in Hongkong he served at Cheung Chaa, Shaukiwan, Central and the Water Police Stations He had heen at the latter station since

1921

He was 31 years of age, and leaves a widow, three sons and daughter.

Flags were down at half mast at the Water Police Station, the Kowloon Canton Railway Station, the K.C.C., and other clubs yesterday.

THE FUNERAL

The funeral took place at Happy Valley yesterday, when the Rev. R Lindsay oficiated. The coin which was druped in the Union Jack and placed on

gan carriage was drawn by sergeants of: the European Police. There were also contingents of Indian, Wei Hai Wei and Southern Chinese policemen, there being

all nearly two hundred of the Polier Force present.
