a long and painful illness, borne with great fortitude, Commander Charles” E. Collins peacefully entered harbour..
Commander Collins bad the unique disn tinction of serving his Majesty as com mander. R.N., during the Great War,
| having reached that rank from a little milor bay in Greenwich School. The sum of a sailor. he was born at Portsmonth
on
February 2nd, 1983, during his father's absence, in China, and was four years old before his father, saw him. At the age of 10 he started his sailor's life a Greenwich School, joining the old training-ship St. Vincent six years later! -in 1879.
The commander was especially famous in the Signal Branch of the Royal Navy, and it was as a boy in her Majesty's brig Merțin that he began his signal career, and revised that hard training which in later years enabled him to bear extra long hours of duty in all weathers on the bridge. Leaving the Martin, he joined the arcel corvette Carfjort, commission.

In February, 1892, Collins commission- Led the Blake, flagship of the West Indies, paying off in June, 1805. On arrival home he was immediately appointed to the Royal - Sovereign...
