EXHIBITION TENNIS. CONCLUDING MATCHES

YESTETRDAY..

Despite the rain yesterday afternoon, the concluding exhibition tennis matches between three of the Japanese Olympic players and thrón local exponents of the game took place.

The interest shown by the public of Hongkong in local sport was very fully evidenced yesterday by the excellent at tendance at the stand-court.

The matches arranged were a singles match between Ohta and T. Honda (the) router up in the singles championship), und a doubles match between Kobayashi and Yoshida and Capt. C. H. D. O'Cal laghan and Ng Sze Kwong

The rain had considerably affected the ground making it sodden and slippery. Nevertheless, some good tennis was seen and all the games were keenly contested. In the singles, Ohta won by two sta to lave.

The final score in Chin's favour read G-4, 6-4.

The doubles was to have been the best out of five sets, but owing to failing fight it was reduced to the best out o three. O'Callaghan and Ng Sza Kwong played well up to form and eventually won the match by tire seta to one.

In the first set, they gave Kobayashi and his partner a great fight, the Japan- cae eventually winning by 6 In the second set, O'Callaghan and his partner won by - The final set produced & great struggle. the total pair eventually winging hy 8-6,

The final scores in favour of O'Callag han and Ng Sz: Kwong read: 4-6; 5-0.

The annual meeting of the Hongkong Football League" was heid, yesterday evening in the Board Room of Messrs. Shewan Comes & Co.

Mr. GT May (president of the lengue) being in the chair, supported by Mr. McCubbin (President of the Hong- kcag Football Association and Vice-pro sident of the League), and Mr., W. E.. Hollanda (Hon. Secretary),

Prior to commencing the business of the meeting, the Chairman congratulated the representatives present of the South the China Athletic Association 03 S.CA.A. team having won the football championship of the Far East' at the Olympic Games at Manila.

The secretary having read the notice cocvening the meeting, the minutes of the last general meeting of, 1924 were read

The report and balance sheet (which has already been published in these columns). was taken no-read.

Commenting on the balance sheet, the Chairman said they would notice that 8303.30 was expended for medals etc, but against that the Football Associa tion paid 833.63 for shield measurements. The sum of $400 on the credit side was practically wiped out by the referees' feca, Up the proposition of Mr. F. James, seconded by Mr. Yuen (S.C.A.A.), the report and balance sheet was adopted.

On the question of the Hor.gkong Bchools football being taken over, and managed by the League, the Chairman said this matter would be dealt with by the Hongkong Football Association. The League would give all the assistance it could in the matter, but it was a matter for the Association to take up.

Following a vote of thanks to the offici ala especially to Mr. W. E. Hollands, who carried out the combined duties of Secretary and Treaurer last season, pro- posed by Mr. Omar, the Chairman, closed the meeting.
