At" 2.30 p.m. yesterday, Stanley Street was the scene of a hot chase of two men by a school teacher of the Ying Yin Night School."
The teacher states that while he was taking tin in the Stag Hotel five men came to him and asked him his name. Not waiting for an answer they assaulted him and, snatched a gold chain attached to a gold watch from his breast pocket. Then they made off. Two of the men have been arrested but the others escap ed.

"The case in, which a broker named. ME. Joseph is charged at the instance of Mr. F. C. Peck with criminal breach of trust in respect of 3,000 shares in Alor Gajah Estate, 2,000 Bukit Jelutong Estate, 4,000 in the Bukit K. B. Rubber Co., and 5,000 in the Jeram Kuantan Rubber Co., was mentioned in the Second Palice Court, Singapore, on May 14th. It was postponed until May 20th, when the preliminary enquiry will | be held..
SUGAR PLANTER'S ESTATE. PLAINTIFF AWARDED $320,000.
A settlement has been effected in the probate action concerning the goods of the late Chan Along, the Hawaiian sugar planter, in which were concerned a for- mer Civil Government, of Canton (Mr. Chan Chik Yu1) and his nephew, plaintif (Chan Wing Ca)..
Both parties are to pay their own costa in the action, and plaintiff is to be awarded $390,000 in cash or Hongkong scenritics.
FORGED $100 NOTES. Two forged notes of $100 each wefe. passed in an Indian Silk Goods Stor, in the China Building, yesterday.
In the first case the note was tendered by a Chinese who made a small purchase and secured the change. He escaped before the forgery was discovered.
The second wna tendered by a Chinese" woman in payment for A piece of silk which she had purchased for $10. The forgery was noticed and the woman arrested At the Police Station she is said to have stated that $100 had been given to her by her "aweetheart."
