By bringing patriachal influence of an- cient days into bearing, it is reported that some of the 78 larger Elatures in the amboi and Shuntak districts near Canton have resumed operations, and more are expected to follow. The Slature owners, in a long statement published on April 9th. reiterated their determination to continue the fine and reward practice among the reelers, asserting that this system is absolutely necessary to encour age efficiency and good work and prevent poor service.
