DRIVEN TO SUICIDE. INQUEST STORY OF COLONEL'S TROUBLES.

An inquest on the body of Lieutenant- Colonel John Dillon Byrne, Royal Artil lery, of Ingledel, Pine Mount Road, Camberley, was held at the Westminster Coroner's Court. Colonel Byrne, whờ was still on the active list, was found shot at the United Services Club, Pall Mall He had served in India and on North-West Frontier, and during the the Great War fought in the battles of Neuve Chapelle, Aubers Ridge, Festubert. Loos, the Somme, and Passchendaele.

Francis Edward Byrne, a Commander in the Royal Navy, identified the body as that of his brother, a brevet lieutenant- colonel, who had the Distinguished Ser- vivo Order He was a married man, hut had no children. The witness had let- ter from him after his death. The witness handed the letter to the Coroner, who read it, but did not disclose its contents.
