BERTHING AT MANILA.
PILOTAGE COMPULSORÝ.
As a result of the recent ramming of the President Adams against pier 7 at Manila while berthing. and to avoid similar accidents in the future, Collector Aldanese bas issued a circular, approved by the Secretary of Finance, making pilotage for American or foreign vessels
at 500 gross tons or more compulsory while docking. However, pilotage shall be optional for any versis anchoring or leaving an anchorage behind the break- water, the circular states.
Vessels docking or leaving any of the Government niers shall pay pilotage at the following rates: vessels under 1,000 tons nat, F.30 each: 1,000 to 3.000 tons P.50 each; and over 3,000 tons, P.75 each. Should pilotage services be requested for vessels anchoring or leaving anchorage behind the breakwater, the following rates are prescribed: vessels under 1,000 tona pet. P.20 Pach; 1,000 to 3,000 tona, 30 cách; and over 3,000 tons, P.40 each.
