Mesars. Wm. G. Hale & Co., Ltd., in their circular dated March 16th says:

The market, which was steady and even at a time weak, has saddenly strongly advanced in the very last days of thes fortnight under review. This rise has been principally determined by the fair demand coming from Japan-about 10,000 tons closed in two days, for which owing to a very favourable exchange, it has been possible to quote prices far below the very best hitherto quoted.

Bome business has been effected also with Cuba and Europe, and arrivals of paddy being not very important, the market closes very firm with upward tendency and few sellers at present pricca.

The total amount of rice exported from January 1st to March 15th is 243,200,331 tons against 298,354,284 in 1924.
