With regard the Valleys. Mowgli has been established a firm favourite in the lotteries, but I see no reason to desert Mr. Relyon's iron-grey. I have long had a liking for Flying Star and he, is certain to run prominently. Mowgli strikes me as a typic stayer, but should get a place. In the Maidens, Auchenreoch is worth a long shot for place money. Gimlet, I understand, is the pony most owners fear,

the Foochow Cap, my original selec- tio was Grey Dragon but the intention to send Clover Club here indicates stable confidence of a very high order which has led to my altering my choice. Kago- shima-ise mover as he is has a reputa tion (one win out of 12 attempts) too bad to justify confidence and I fancy he will run nearer laat than first. Undoubt culy he could win if he would give of his

best.

The Trials, on public performances, should be a gilt for Local Option. But if he is beaten. Chicago will probably prove the mesna.

The probable absence of Rialto Star bas deprived the Garrison Cup of any real opposition to Loen Rannoch, whose task should prove an easy one, despite the 7lbs. penalty.

For some hidden reason, last night, Jungle Cock found staunch support for the Garrison Cup. 1 should strongly advise pusters to leave him out of the Teckoning even for place money. A pony with a good outside chance for a place is Monitor, who may be started here.

In the Chater Cup, Rothesay and Spotted Band can renew old rivalries with Bivorgrass as a distinct source of danger. Even if Fern Leaf is sent out, I do not fancy he will prove as formid-1 able us of yore. At any rate, on his last public performance, he is held sale by the three named.

A stable tip has persuded me to stood Booraz for the Jockey Club Stakes, my suggestion that he had lost his form having been strongly denied by our whose judgment I hold in the bigbest. respect,

The Racing Stakes will probably attract a very large field and if Wimmera goes to the post here in preference to an earlier engagement, he should be followed.
