WHITES v. BLUES.
The first of the laterport Trial games was played on the Hongkong F. C. ground before a good attendance. Stewart won the toss for the Whites, Johnson set the ball rolling for the blues who
were defending the Wong Nei Chong Road end. Brown got away on, the Blues' left but shot behind. The ex- changes opened fairly en but it was soon evident that the players wern not up to their usual form, or that they were not going to exert themselves, for shooting on both sides was wild while combination was not good. The first chance of scoring came for the Blues when Brown dropped over from the left, but Johnson failed to take a first chance shot and the ball came back to Gerrard who cleared. Corners fell to both sides and Humberstone was sent in, but Clarke, with good judgment, beat him close in Leung Yuk Tong was playing a useful game and was well applauded for his efforts. A free kick for hands gave the Blues a chance but the ball was sent in while. A fast abot from La: Wai Tong almost got home, but Clarke throw- ing himself at the ball stopped it and recovering, cleared, Had the right wing been in position the Whites most probab- ly would have taken the lead. The South China player. appeared to be the only one to trouble Clarke for Hum berstone and Faton could not get going. Offside by Forsyth, close in, spoilt Read opening for the Blues and the Whites, going down, opened the score. Mackleworth sent in a dropping shot and Clarke pushed out. The ball going to McKelvie, be sent it to Eaton who was unmarked a couple of yards from goal and the East Surrey man sent it into the net with Clarke helpless. It was a somewhat lucky goal, for Clarke appear- ed to be unsighted.
The Blues took up the attack from the centre kick but Gerrard relieved with a big kick. Whoeler charged down a shot from Lai Wai Torg and the bali re bounded to Mackloworth who returned high over the bar, At the interval the Whites were lealing by goal to nit
