COMPANY MEETING. HONGKONG AND CANTON ICE MANUFACTURING CO., LTD.
The third ordinary annual meeting of shareholders in the Hongkong and Canton Ico Manufacturing Co., Ltd., was held yesterday at nocd in the offices of the Company, No. 2, Lower Albert Road, under the chairmanskip of Mr. A. B Stewart. The following directors and shareholders were present: The Rev. Father L. Robert, Messrs. Ho Kom. Tong, Leung Yan Fo, Lau Ying Chuck, Tang Kwan Shan (Directors), Mr. M. Manuk (Secretary) and Messrs. A. W. Smith, H. W. Page, A. Stevenson, Chan Tong, Chan Nai Pan and Ng. Kai Chi,
The CHAIRMAN said: During the year under review the unsettled state of affairs in Canton, particularly during the best. months for the sale of ice, deprived us of a large proportion of the profit ve fully anticipated making. Nevertheless, I am pleased to say that the result of the year's working showed a profit of $8,7698, which sum has been transferred to the credit of Profit and Loss Account to reduce the debit balance brought for ward from last year. Your Directors feel confident that, with anything like settled conditions in Canton,,wo should, within a reasonable period, be able to wipe off our dehit balance and place the Company on a dividend paying basis.
In my last year's speech I referred to the Bolinder plant which was for sale. We have now disponed of the electrio generating plant, but the buyer has beca unable to take delivery owing to his in- ability to remove the machinery to its destination in the interior, due to the insecurity of the reads and waterways, The two 80 HP. Bolinders, are still ca hand, but we hope to dispose of them in due course.
