R.A.

On the Club ground the Artillery beat the Club by three goals to two. The Club were without Gerrard and Bishop at back, their places being taken by Howard and Buxton. The latter have played better, games than they did an Saturday for they could do nothing right against a The Club bad histling-forward line.

Lieut. Jones of the King's Regt. in the forward line and Hill came in to com plete the side.

The interval found the Club in arrears by the odd goal in five. Although there was no scoring in, the second half, play was mostly in favour of the RA. Jones got away and working out to the right passed too far forward and could not recover until the ball was over the line. The play got very scrappy hereabout and Boveral stoppages were called for offside play. In the failing light the Club tried to pull the game round but the Gunners defence held cut and the hnal whistle sounded leaving the R.A. winners by three, goals to two.

The B.A. fully deserve their win and from the chances offered to them they should have won by a larger score. Bux ton and Howard were certainly off their game for they gave a very poor exhibi- too at back. Angus was good, but received little support. J. Stewart was the pick of a well-balanced ball back line, Watson was good on the wing and the two goals came from his centres. Jones did well in the centre forward position and the Club attack should improve when they settle down."

Dobson saved several shots, but he had no chance with the shot from Jones that opened the score. He should have clear ed before the second goal was scored, for he caught the ball and let it twist out of his hands. Doody and Hardy played a good defensive game, but Hardy at times was not good in his clearances. The R.A. as a team showed good combin- ation but their attack fell-off when Red- head dropped back to assist the defence in the closing minutes.

Playing at home, the Club Reserves beat a strong College team by two goal to it. Both teams were strengthened by the inclusion of new men and the Club are somewhat fucky to register the maxi mum points. Early in the game Pile scored

goal and shortly afterwards Douglas put on the second. After the change of ends nearly all the play was in the Club hall, while shots were sent in from all directions only to see Oswick get them away. Kent however managed fa get one home and when the whistle" sounded for the finish the College were bombarding the Club goal.

From the restart the Surreys took up the attack and the South China goal keeper was applauded for making a fine save from Eaton, but the ball went be- hind and the Surreys were awarded a corner kick. This led to the Surreys' second goal, for Charlesworth placing well from the corner kick, enabled Wool- dridge to bead the ball into the net. Before the close the Surreys scared two more goals. From the restart the Police went out to level up but they found sturdy defence in Ball and Butcher, while Wavish dealt successfully with the shots that came his way. However, the Police broke down the defence and Simpson got the ball past Wavish. This was all the scoring and a fast and even game ended in a draw.
