INSTALLATION CEREMONY, “

In the Central Hall. Westminster, on July 30th, the Duke of York was installed as Proviacial Grand Master of Middle sex, in succession to Lord Cleorge Hamil ton, who has retired from the position lowing to advancing age. The ceremony was on exactly the same lines as that of the previous week, when the Prince of Wales was installed as Provincial Grand Master of Surrey at the same place, and was carried out by the, Duke of Con- naught, Grant Master of the Craft in England, in the presence of an enormous gathering of Freemasons The great majority of those present were Middlesex Freemasons, but the gathering also in cinded many Grand Officers; Provincial Grand Officers, and overseas Freemasons.

The centre of the hall, largely occupied by provincial and past provincial grand officers, was a blaze of colour in which dark blue and gold predominated. The flanking aisles and the galleries were ten- anted chiefly by Master Masons, and here: the familiar pale blue was the prerailing colour. I cannot but feel that I undertake a very responsible Masonic duty in succeeding to this posi tion, which has been held with such high distinction by Lord George Hamilton since 1892.
