The total number of spindles spinning Egyptian cotton in the half-year ended January 31st, 1991, was 26.302,000, of which 20,174,000 were in Great Britain, as against 19,604.000 and 1,236,000 res pectively in the half-year ended August 31st, 1913. The comparative prosperity of Lancashire spinhers of Egyptian cotton has been reflected in the financial results of the companies on this work. A compilation of the dividends of some of these companies shows a wonderful
