A shipping correspondent points out in the Times that it is a eurious and perhaps a significant, fact that the largest, finest and most important two passenger liners built since the close of the war have born intended for service. not on the Atlantic, "hat on the Pacific. What is of interest to shipowners, ship builders, and marine engineers is tha fact that the North Atlantic has no longe first call on the latest and àgeu of liners, and that vessels marking very definite stages in the development of nav Hongkong to Gap Rock W, wins, molantes architecture and marine engineering ahe being built for service, from the first, qu Pacific routes. The first vessel to which Iverter has been made was the Canadian Parihe Railway Company's large liner Eingers of Chando, which is now service between Japan and Vancouver hails the prest word for that route. She is easily the next vessed on the Pacific, and would have been considered, an muistanding ship on the Southampton- New York run. That she was designed from the Erst for the North Parise indi- cates the belief of her owners in the great possibilities of the passenger traile between the west coast of North" America
