Since dur last Report of the 23th ultima the July Settlement has been satisfactorily liquidated. The local market during the week has been fairly active and, with few exceptions, rates have been well runin tained. Interest has been chiefly centred ia China Sugars, Kowloon Wharves and Hongkong Hotels, which have been the medium of a large turnover - Bayers pre- dominate, and in spite of some profit taking there are no signs of weakness in these stocks.

Banks-Hongkong and Shanghai Banks have been ruling firm and the prive has now advanced to $1,200, at which the de- mand is unsatisfied. The Sterling price! remains unaltered at £137 (middle).

Marine and Fire Insurances.---Fnions bave been dealt in at $994 and there are further enquiries at this. rate. Yongtazes ar i7 turn higher ut 30: There are buyers of Cantons at 8C95, China Fires at $150 and Hongkong Fires at 85373.
