NEW £350,000 AIRSHIP. VOYAGE TO INDIA ONE OF THE TESTS.
A voyage to India will be one of the tests of the airship to be "built by tho Airship Guarantee Co., Ltd, for the Government at a cost of $330.009.
Details of the airship, as given by the Aif Minister, Lord Thomson, in a note on the supplementary estimate to the Air Vote, 1924-5, include:- Capacity5,000,000 cubit ft. (minimum). Speed.....
....70 m.p.h. Fixed weights....90 tons
Subject to these and general require ments of airworthiness, the company will have a free hand in design and construc- tion.
The price of the airship is £300,000, to be paid in instalments. In addition, further initial payment of £50,000 will be made towards the contractors' capital expenditure.
The first six instalments paid, amount ing to £250,000, are to be repaid should the airship, before the fight trials take place, fail to satisfy certain vital con ditions."
