Chung Lun. a merchant, of Poktulum Road, was summoned before ME W Hamilton at the Kowloon Magistracy, yesterday, for neglecting to obey an order from the Sanitary Board to cleanse and limewash several houses belonging to him in Haiphong Road, Kowloon.
Mr. A. E Hall, defending, said that his client had limewashed the premises several times, but that on each occasion" the Sanitary Board declared that the work bad not been done satisfactorily. He suggested that the Board should do the work themselves, and send the bill to the defendant, who would be glad to pay it..

In answer to His Worship. Mr. Hal explained that his client did not know the standard required by the regula tions.
Inspector Murray, of the Sanitary Board, suggested that the trouble was that owners of house-property would not pay contractors a sufficient price for good wurk.
His Worship adjourned the proceed- ings for seven days, remarking that he would take a very lenient view df the case, if the work was properly completed by that time.
