There is one uther point which I want to mention this morning and it is this
ages have different characteristics, and we can rely upon the guidance of the Holy Spirit to give the solation of the new problems which each new age dia covers. The voice of he Spirit comes to each now generation, as it came in past times, through the circumstances of the age. It is here that mer brunch of the Catholic Church is so well placed to meet the needs of the age, for we have been taught to reverence the wisdom of the past, but not to be slavishly bound to naricat traditions. We believe that the faith once for all delivered to the Saints " is enshrined in our. Bible and creeds, but we have been taught to believe that the

So we are not shives of tradition, but ready to make ventures in the light of new needs.

And opportunities for serving Him which lie so for ten days they waited and then the scattered all around them. Dy not let Holy Spirit came, and at once they began us make that mistake: It is a Christian's their work of prociniming their crucified duty to be ready at all times to give an and risen master as the Son of God and ¦ answer concoming the hope that is in the Saviour of the world. Is it not true that the great majority of Christians who ought to be preachingness, and knowledge of what's going on. the Faith by the open Arown of Christian motives, by the plain, acknowledgment of Christian hopes and by the practical en forcement of Christian belief, are eon- tent to be silent as if they had no respan- sibility for the honour of Christ. It needs to be emphasised and repeated that fe Crib is not an esoteric society for the culture the spiritual life hut it in the body through which (ind reveals Himself for the conquest of me, and the uplift ing of the world, and if men have, not been brought into the bedience to Christ it is because Christians have given sneh ja weak and half benztel acknowledgment of Christian principles. The gift of Pentecost was not a private possession of the individual to be cherished as a privilege it was rather a call to wide sor- vice, witness to the believer that he was in Christ, a partaker of the life of |God, and this life must always find ex- pression in aetion. The gift of Penteenst was not a peculiar grace bestowed for the fulühnent of a special"work, but the energy of the Char Spirit, to he used hy all who received it nerording to their 'several ability. ***He will guide you into all truth was Christ's promise, but we must yield, our- selves to His guiding, we must be ready to fellow wherever. He leads. We must have a listening ear ready to catch the first whispers of His voice. He will not drive us, nor force us against our will. This thep is the first lesson I would ark |1.. you to gather from the teaching of this Festival, that the Holy Spirit lins come to each one of us to make us fit instru ments for doing Christ's work in the world. And if we set ourselves to do' Christ's work we shall be given the help and strength we need. We have been called to he fellow labourers with the Apostles and the Saints of all ages in, bringing the world to Christ. Aro wa trying earocstly to do that work? Do we indeed regulate our acts and words addressed in followi by the standard of Christ. Just as the Apostles were called and sent by Christ, BO we have been called, each one of us and sent fo`rbow the world the spirit and example of Christ, Christ works through us, and if we draw back from His work then the work will not be done.
