The fourth annual report of the coin,

Orricks FAMILIES FUND.-The Secre Hised Grill and League, mentions that tary writes: am asked by Lady Lana-; the net proceeds of the anngal fete on downe and the Committee to thank you December 8th and of entertainmenta held very much indeed for the further gener- ous donation that you have sent to the claring the year amounted to $18,125.& Officers Families Fund from the Com- am which, though, nut so high as inmittee of the Hongkong Women's Guild 18 is higher, the Report say, than and Local Branch of the Ministering

Children's League. in previous total.

THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND HOMES FOR WATES AND STRAYS.--I have pleasure in sending a receipt for the welcome gift of £30,0,0, which reached us on the and inst and shall be glad if you will be good enough to convey the Society's warmest thanks to your Committee for their kind-

The "financial statement shows receipts amounting to $21.075.27, and at the end of the financial year (January 31st, 1921), there was a balance of 82255 in hand,

The Report after showing how the funds have been allocated falready puhness in allocating this splendid contribu

tion towards our work. I need hardly lished in the Presa) says:

This year the following grants were port, and how very encouraged we feel igrensed

(1) Orphan Homes of Scotland by 133. (ii) Nothersole Hospital by $200,

By Ying Wa Girls Schoof, by $100

towards Inilling expeasES, fiv) Baxter Mission Day Schools by Siro, and Victoria Höme and Orphanage by $50, towards typhoon repairs. "

The following grants were reduired: (A) MC.L. Cots at Ottershaw by 540 (ii) Children's Ward of the London

Hospital by £100. Though known to he always in need of funds, the Hospital has received donations from other sources in the Colony during the year.

The tii) Fairlea School by SANI

School is now incorporated with St. Stephen's Girls College and is no longer in need of so much assistance.

A new grant of 3300 was made to the Home for the Aged Poor in Kowloon. The attention of the Executive Commit, tee was drawn to the excellent work now being done by this most deserving institu- tion in caring for the Aged Poor of both xes irrespective of sect or religion On inquiry it was found that the lose, which is in charge of the Little Sisters of the Poor, has no fixed income and relies catirely upon charitable donations and gilts in kind from the jicople of the Colony.

The following comprised the Branches of the h and League during 102 Naval and Dockyard Branch, Military Branch, Police Branch, Peak Branch, Vitoria Branch, Quarry Bay Branch, Kowloon Dook Branch, Kowloon Branch, Belos Girls School Boneh. St. Paul's Girls' School Branch, St Stephen's Girls College Branch and the Children's Ciul Branch.

Efforts have again been made this year, with satisfactory results, to interest the children even more in the work of the 1.0.1. Not only have the children them- selves contributed largely to the funde at those in charge of them have never lest sight of the educative value of the League, and have done their utinost to spire the children with the spirit of "Mervice and help.

The Children's Club has grown *, large and so many parents wish their hildren to join that it should be pos ible to for more than one "Club" daring 1925, it sufficient helper are available.

In addition to the aerous entertain- ments given by generous supporters "to help the various Branches, it gives the Committee great pleasure to mention the exceedingly popular and surressful Aquatic Sports For Children in aid of the MCI Cots at Osterhow, which were organised this year for the first time, by Lily Rees Davies. It is toped that this will become an annual event.

During 1923, there were 358 adults and hildren mathers on the books of the tail and League

The efforts made in 10 to extend the work of the Cuild and League over the greater portion of the year was con- tinued in 1925. In view of the unsettled. weather n the day of the Bazaar, which andoubtedly interfered with the receipts, this policy has been amply justified. Unt of a total of $18.42305 made, the sum of. 810,345.20 was handed in. to the Hou Treasurer apart from the Bazaar.

The Report is signed by Lady Stubbs, as President; Lady Evelyn Stuart Taylor, as Hon. Treasurer; and Mrs. Dyer Ball, as Hon. Secretary."

HOW TO GET GOOD SERVICE FROM

MICHELIN TYRES.

Keep tyres pumped up to correct pressure for the load they have to carry. We can tell you what this should be.

When tyres are under inflated there is continual internal friction between the foundation cord and the rubber, causing overheating of the tyre and consequent rapid deterioration.

Water can also enter causing rust, resulting eventually in the rims having sharp edges which cut the walls of the tyre near the "bead.

Most ca sin Hongkong run on under inflated tyres with the above disastrous results. Have your wheels examined front and rear for trueness and tracking alignment. If they are at fault in this respect the tread of the cover is subject to a grinding action which quickly destroys the cover.

Keep tyres free from oil and grease.

Start and crop gently and take corners slowly.
