The second ordinary yearly meeting of shareholders of the above company (at which the Directors' Report and a state, ment of accounts for the half-year ended December 31st, 1923, were presented) was held at the offices of Messrs. Shewan. Tomes and Co., St. George's Building. yesterday.

Mr. R. G. Shewan (Chairman) presid ed, and other directors present were the Very Rev. Father Robert and "Mr. J. Scott Harston, with Mr. S. Courtney Cook (Secretary). In proposing the adoption of the report The CHAIRMAN said: Although we are able to report a small profit for the half- year we are still left with an adverse balance of $34,737.11 as the result of the Erst year's working.

On the whole this is not an unsatisfne RESERTE FEND tory result for the Grst year's working of a new Company like ours. As the Chairman at the last meeting pointed out. we had to start from the beginning. and unch time and money were expend- ed before we could get together a trained staff and the considerable amount of phint and equipment which is essential for the fasiness of a large contractor: and then we had to set to work to secure business. To do that we took some coD- tracts which, at first, we expected would bring us a profit, though only a small ong, but which, as a matter of fact, have felt some small losses. They, however. served our purpose, which was to bring ourselves before the public as experi enced designers and constructors in rein- foreed tonerete hy the most up-to-date methods. In this respect we may

claim soine measure of success, portions of our work having been subjected to "věry severe tests with satisfactory results.

Unexpected difficulties have also been euenuntered is connection with certain Government contracts and some losses have been sustained, which, I am sorry! to say, were partly due to a vint v forethought and proper supervision in the early stages of the work on the part of the person then in charge of these contracts. These difficulties have since heen overcome and work on the contracts is now proveeding more satisfactorily.

As regards the future we need not feel at all apprehensive as work in hand to keep our plant, equip- ment and staff tally employed, so that our overhead expenses may be based on the lowest possible percentage of cost. In this repect I may tell you that con- tracts for work now in progresa amount. to more than $2,000,000. W
