The Chinese Recreation Club did not turn out a side on Saturday in their Arst league fixture against the RGA. and they had to concede fült points to the Garrison men.

SECOND LEAGUE.

UNIVERSITY 2ND XI v. NAVY 2ND XI,

The Navy second string suffered their first defeat this season in league cricket but they are still in a good position to carry off the league championship. At present they are second in the league with 2 points, having played ten matches, winning eight, losing one and drawing one. The Royal Engineers at present head the league with 33 points but they have played four autehes more than the Navy. The conquerors of the Navy on Saturday were the University second string.

The K.C.C. stand eleven were defeated on Saturday on the H.K.C.C. ground by the home's second string. The visitors had first knock bat they could not do anything| with the bowling, only one of their bata! men, B. Petheram, getting into double figures. The side was out for 53. F. N... Young's bowling was mainly responsible for the low scoring of the visitors He secured eight wickets for 12 runs, au aver- age of 1.5 per wicket. The visitors re- plied with is for nine; L. D. McNicholl' and D. E. J. Nicholson for a long time defying the bowling. The former com- piled a good all round 70 before being dismissed, and the the latter madu 48.

The Navy first eleven played a friendly match at Kowloon on Saturday against the K.O.C. first eleven, which they won by 77 runs Batting first, the Naval men scored 150 for the loss of seven wickets when they declared Lieut.-Com. Jotham, first man in, contributed 66 towards this wore. The home side replied with 115, J. C. Fletcher topping the score with 27 to his credit. The fielding on both sides was not good.

INTERFORT CRICKET.

NO TEAM FOR SINGAPORE. Cricketers, will be disappointed to learn- that the proposed Interport cricket match between Singapore and Hongkong will not take place. This decision was reached nt a meeting of the Committee held.at the Hongkong Cricket Club on Saturday A tiho time The Committee sent out. invitations to about 30 cricketers to re present Hongkong in the match, which WAS tved in Singapore, but only seven were able to go to Singapore. Un- able to make up a side, the Committen decided to abandon the idea of visiting Singapore this Season.

TAM SHUI PO SHIELD WON

The police shoot for the shield kindly presented by Mr. Tam Shui Po of No. 85. Bonham Strand, took place on the Kowloon City Range, yesterday morning. The competition was open to teams re- presenting the various police districts in the Colony. The rules for the shoot com- prised Soapshooting at 200 yards, rapid. shooting (fifteen rounds in one minute), application at 500 yards (seven rounds and no sighters), application at 600 yards (seven rounds and no sighters), making in all a possible of 150 points.

The shield was won by Central District, Yaumati district being second, and New Territories No. 1. third. Three cups were also awarded for the highest individual Aggregate acures. "These were won by: 1, Crown Sergt. Carpenter, 100 points; 2. Crown Sergt. Smith, 106 points; 3 Sub-Inspector Barnett, 107 points. THE GOVERNOR'S CUĘ COMPETITION The Governor's Cup for revolver shoot- ing, open to the police farce, has been won by Crown Sergt. Carpenter, who also this year holds the championship of the Palice force and wins the cup pre sented for this eompetition by the Share- brokers' Association. In this competition Sub-Inspector Harnett secured second place. The Handicap Cup, presented hy the Sharebrokers. Arsociation, was woTE by Lance-Sergt. Whant, Crown Sergt. Carpenter obtaining second place.

YACHTING.

THE LADIES' CUF."

Conditions were very good for the race on Saturday for the. Ladies' Cup and eighteen borts enjoyed a very good sail. All four classes of racing yachts competed and a fine start was made. The day was pleasantly warm and there was quite a good breeze..

The course was from the Club to Lymur, thener to Cust Rock buoy. Quarry Bay and Channel' rocks and was nine and a half miles long,

Rola and Dinnn were favourites but the former did not start aid Diana was five minutes late over the line and then at Lyemun bad the misfortune to faul the beacon and so went out of the race.
