THE ACTONOMY OF THE CHINESE CHURCH.
It is the polley of the Church to develop its organisation gradually as the life of the Church demands it, and one of the chief functions of the General Synod is to draw up Canons for the whole Church. In 1912 the constitution of the Church is its General Synod was promulgated, with a preamble which defined the dectrical and historic basis on which, the Church rests. In subsequent meetings canons were promulgated regarding the Board try. The object was to make the Church of Missions and ordination to the Minis-
Missionary Church from the start, and to provide a well-trained, tested, and properly ordered ministry.
The following important resolution was passed in 1827:
Resolved: that in the opinion of this General Synod the time has come when steps should be taken to complete the organization of the Chung Hua Sheng Kung Hui, with a view to securing its recognition as an autonomous Church within the Anglican Communion in ne- eurdance with the principles set forth in Resolution 3 of the Lambeth Con- ference: and to this end the Standing Committee on Canons is hereby in- structed to draw up Canons
(a) establishing the authority of the General Synod:
th) providing for ractropolitical over- sight or some constitutional substitute therefor:
:
(e) providing for the election and con- sceration of Diocesan Bishops:
(d) providing for the discipline of the Clergy:
