LANDS.

ARBITRATOR'S VALUATION.

AN AWARD OF NEARLY SEVENTEEN

MILLIONS.

PROPOSED ACCEPTANCE OF THE AWARD.

At a mesting of the Hongkong Legi- lative Council, called for Thursday, the Hon, Colonial Secretary will propose the} fallowing resolution:---

Resolved that this Council approves the scceptance of the award of Sir John Hubert Oakley dated the second day of! November, 103, in respect of certain Lands situated in the Colony of Hong- kong now vested in the Army, Council.) ne set out in Sessional Paper No. 1 of 1994, and recommends that steps be taken to give effect to it as soon as possible.

SERVICE

DOLLAR LINE'S PIONEER SHIP IN HONGKONG.

The first of n feet of seven vessels detailed for the round-the-world service by the Robert Dollar Co-the 3.8. Prezi- dent Harrison-arrived in Hongkong yesterday morning and leaves to-day for Manila. She is berthed at the Kowloon Wharf alongside the Empress of Russia. A point in favour this Dollar Line service lies in the fact that one can engage upon a world-tour from any of the many ports of call.

Internally, the President Harrison is "Social well laid out, particularly the hall and other public rooms. The ship carries, amongst numerous useful tras, Lex own stenographer, and excellent jazz band.

The vessel arrived at Shanghai on February 1st, after a successful trip. According to her itinerary, she will re- quire 40 days to reach Marsellies, 55 days to New York, and 83 days to San Francisco, returning to Shanghai in 110 days.

The President: Harrison is three years old. Her beam extends to 2 feet, and she has a gross tonnage of 10,533 tons. The crew totals 12%.

The two sailors who absconded from the! 8.a. Tai Lee after she had been pirated, and who were brought from Macao to take their trial with four other suspects, appeared at the Magistracy before Mr. J. R. Wood yesterday.

Their descriptions: are, Chan Lai (32); native of Pauni U, sailor, resident at 19, Chinese Street, 2nd floor, and Tang Ng (28), native of Sham Shud, sailor.
