During the afternoon H.E. the Gover ao (Sir R. E. Stubbs) accompanied by Lady Stubbs and Capt, Neville, A.D-C., arrived and at the conclusion of tho sports Lady Stubbs presented the prizes. In calling upon Lady Stubbs to give thesa away, the president of the Club (Dr. C. Forsyth) expressed thanks to the members of the Club who had provided the prizes. Three hearty cheers, and a special tiger," for Lady Stubbs con- clude the proceedings.

The third annual international match between teams representing England and Scotland was played at the Kowloon Bowling Green Club on New Year's Day. On the invitation of the President of the local Lawn Bowls Association (the Hon Mr. A. G. Stephen) about 30 players took part in the match. Prior to the game the players sat down to an excellent tiffin in the Club-house, provided by the generosity of the President. The tifin included seasonable fare, one of the courses being Haggis. Needless to state after this, Scotland won the nutch in a very decisive manner, winning on every rink, and the Southerners in looking for to cover their a reasonable excuse defent attributed their downfall to having

A HORRIBLE DISCOVERY. MUTILATED BODY OF A CHILD

FOUND.

Tho mutilated body of a small child has been found by the police on the Sham Shui Po reclamation. The child's limbs had been cut off and its face had been slashed with a sharp instrument

It is thought that the child died a natural death and that the mutilations were done after death. Native opinion is to the effect that the mutilations are due to superstition"

SERIOUS LANDSLIDE. MATSHED AND OCCUPANTS INVOLVED.

At 7 pm, on New Year's Day a serious landslide occurred behind, Fung Fai Ter race, Wong Nei Chong en site, which is being cut out on the side of the bill for a building About 200 tons of earth and atone fell, covering a matsbed below in which nine folis employed on the site. were living. Beven of the occupante cscaped but two were buried. One these was recovered shortly afterwards and he was removed to the Government Civil Hospital in an injured condition. The other man's body has not been re- covered.
