CLUB H.M.S.

These teams played a very even game on the Navy A ground, the Club win- ning by the odd goal in five. The Hay-

ins were not at full strength and the Club tried out Mhumack in goal. The opening exchanges were fairly even, and Proudfoot was the first goalkeeper called upon to handle, having to clear from a weak shot by Begg. immack saved at the other end somewhat luckily, the ball spinning round the post from a one-handed save. The Chub got away on the left and McPhail sent over a dropping shot which: the goalkeeper misjudged. The ball, bitting the post, rebounded to play and Howard, running up, returned it to the net. The Harkins were doing most of the attacking and were rather unlucky in being a goal down. The Club forwards were shooting badly when they did get down, and Forsyth and Begg both missed easy chances. Corners Jell to hoth sides but there was no further scoring before the interval which found the Club lead- ing by the only goal scored..

most conspicuous. Sells and Dean tried bard on their respective wings and Edds gave them some very nice passes, but the two inside forwards made a very poor display and missed a good many open-

From the restart the Club took up the attack and a scramble took place in the sailors goalmouth which ended when Wright kicked clear. The Club forced a corner and, following good combination by the Trout line, Howard put the Club further ahead by beating Heathcote with. #ground_shot_

Angas was working well on the left wings for the Club but was pulled up several times for offside. The Harkins opened their score when Bishop got in the way of the goalkeeper to a shot from Smith This success of the "sailors en- couraged them to further efforts and they were soon rewarded. for Smith sent over a shot that Mimmack failed to stop, and the scores were two goals all.

Both teams were out for the lead and the Club forced a corner following which they took the lead. Begg sent in a hard shot and Heathcote saved at the expense of a corner. From the Ang kick the ball landed on the head of Stewart and Angus receiving went in a first timer that had the goalkeeper beaten, but the hall struck the bar and came down to Heathcote whe nade a weak clearance and Forsyth hand ed the ball into the net, thereby winning the gang for the Clu With a few minates to go the sailors put on pressure and they were near the Chih goal when the final whistle sounded, being losers by: three goals to two

The game was evenly contested and the Club just deserve their win. Gerrard was steadier than Bishop but both backs were beaten several times. Stewart and McPhail were good while Mair was in elined to wander. The forwards were fair | at combination but acveral chances were lost through faulty shooting.

The sailors-hadly missed Shenton on the wing and Warne as centre forward. The two Smiths played well and the two goals came from these players. As & result the Chub add four points to those already gained in the Hongkong League.

The Gunners were without Castledine and West, bat gained an easy victory at Sookumpoo on Saturday by three clear gon. The play in the first hall was rather of poor quality, both sides show- ing up well in defence hut pombination was rally lacking. The soldiers did most Cheloo of the attacking. Smith cleared a Dairen. Diomede rush and transferred the hall to Hair Couzens, who ran straight down and seat in a hot shot which Proudfoot failed to hold, thus opening the score after twenty minutes' play. Halftime arrived with the R.G.A. holding a two goal lend. They had had much more of the game than the sailors and but for faulty shooting would

ive been many goals ahend.

Early in the second half the sailors livened up and gave the R.G.A. defence more to do. When the soldiers got away again. Green running through, gave Proudfoot no chance with a good shot from close range. The Diomede tried bard to make an impression on the RG.A defence but the inside forwards spoiled many promising movements which were initiated by the wing men. The

The full hacks were hoth very unsound and only the work of the halves kept the Gunners from scoring more than three. They played very good defensive games, Wiggington being the
