P.3LG. AND THE B.B.C. Local broadcasting enthusiasts will be interested in the terms of the supplement- ary agreement between the Postmaster. General and the British Broadcasting Company, providing for the modification of the licence of last January 18th, rendered necessary by the adoption of certain recom- mendations of the Baoadcasting Com mittee.

The agreement extends the period of the company's licence until the end of 1926, and provides for the erection of further broadcasting stations when authorised.

One modification provides that the com- pany shall not without the Postmaster- General's consent receive money or any valuable consideration in respect of messages broadcast, but this does not apply to matter provided gratutiously, such as

Where these conditions are not carried out, the Postmaster-General reserves the right to grant licences for other broadcast- ing services and to withiold from the com- pany sums received for licences in such arena, the limits of which are to be based on the receptive capacity of an ordinary crystal aet.
