A fair volume of business has been transacted during the week under review chiefly on Settlement account, but with the exception of Investment stocks, which continue firm, prices generally speaking have shewn a tendency to weaken.

Shanghai is suffering from tight money. and the market there is in the same stageant condition as last reporteil.

Banks-Hongkong and Shanghai Banks have developed weakness and sales have been made down to $1,050. The latest cabled quotation from London-is £121 (Middle).

Marine and Fire Insurances.-Unins have changed hunds at 230/237. Hong- kong Fires have been done at the in- proved price of $3074 There are buyers of Cantons at $879, North Chinas at Tis. 140 and China Fires at $150.
