PRISON.

Two soldiers in the Military Prison; better known as the Detention Barracks, in Garden Road, Hongkong, made a sen sational escape from the prison on Friday night. The incident is unusual; it is said to be the first time that such a thing has happened since the Detention, Barracks were built about twelve years ago. It is evident that the men in making their escape had help from outside. At 7 o'clock at night both men made a request to the Corporal in eiurge to be allowed to go for a wish. The Corporal 'complied with their request and allowed them both to go out together- most unusual thing. The Corporal necompanied them. Whilst they were in the midst of their ablutions the hell at the main gate rang and the Corporal left his charges and went to answer it. He opened the main door and found nobody there. He then hurried back to his prisoners but to his dismay. found they had vanished He immediate ly raised the alarma and the barracks were searched, but no trace of the two missing men could be found. It then became evident that the men bad escaped out of the prison. The matter was reported to the Military Authorities who immediately took steps to find the two men. In this they have been partly successful, one of the two men having been since arrested. The other is still at large.
