According to local rule," the ditches treated as water hazards, although this surrounding the Race-course are to be is not too clearly defined. The rule states that a ball may be lifted and dropped on the side farthest away from the hole, under penalty of our stroke, whether there is water in the ditches or not. Therefore, a player is not entitled to ground his club before playing the

shot.

There are two more instances when a hall can be packed up under penalty of our stroke. One is when the ball is lying against the pavilions on the right of the approach to the sth hole: and the other when the hall is lying against the chine sheds at the back of the 3th green. In the first case, a ball lifted many he dropped clear and not nearer the hole In the second ease the ball must be pled one club's length away.

There are reveral cases when a ball may

The boundaries of the Golf-course at Happy Valley are very simple. From the Clab-house to the Naval pavilica, near the 5th green, the boundary is the iron railings. The pavilions are out of bounds. Then, after that, the boundary is outer fences, railways, etc., bounding the main Raer-course.
