OBITUARY.
THE VERY REV. FATHER P. DE MARIA.
A cablegram from Milau, dated April'. 8th, convero to Bishop Pozzon the sad news of the death of his Vicar Delegate, the Very Rev, Father P. de Maria, who left the Colony for Italy on February 7th in an attempt to regain his shattered health. Unfortunately, Fr. de Maria died scarcely ten days after he had reach ed home. The late Priest, born in Pied- most in 1888, was widely known in- « Hongkong, having resided here sace im mediately after his ordination in 1889. All his activities, except a short period of 3 years in the Hoifung district, were spent in Hongkong, where he was noted koen educationalist He was the correspondent for, the Catholic schools a well as a member of the local Board of Education: The progress of the local Catholic schools show that his efforts on their behalf wore not in rain. Fr. de Maria was also the popular Parish Pricst
of St. Francis'- Church in Wanchai. Ou the day he left for 'home, he assisted në the laying down of the corner-stone of the new St. Margaret'a Church in Board- wood Road, and in the speech he then made expressed his strong hope of coming back soon to take up his duties there.
