He seemed very depressed then over the question of his job, feeling that he was not strong enough to hold it down. He threw up that position and upon leaving 'hospital witness recom- mended him to take a sea trip, and he went to the north, returning early last work. He called at witness's office on his return and looked very fit, and on that occasion ho mentioned that was looking for a job with less responsibility attaching to it. On the morning of the day on which he died he again called, said he thought it was useless trying to find a job in Shanghai at present, and added that he had booked a second class passage for home on the Empress of Bussia leaving next week.
