Th Council of the Imperial War Relief Fund has desired HE the Governor to bring the appeal before the residents in the Colony so that through their co-operation the Colonies of the Empire shall be adequately repre sented in the effort of "British relief FOTK

The National Appeal states that it has become increasingly obvious that the effec tire means of dealing permanently with a problem of such magnitude is by the undertaking of relief work on a recon- structive basis. An opportunity for such work is offered by the Kofugee Settlement Scheme which has been organised by Colonel Procter, the Deputy High Com-

Food supplies, which were expected to last till the beginning of April were in hand when the Appeal was issued, but, the interval. between that date and the gathering of the harvest was unprovided for. The High Commissioner of the League of Nations realising the importance of the settlement of the rural populations as necessary preliminary to the whole problem of assisting the refugees, has requested the assistance of the British rellef-organi sations to complete and extend this work of permanent relief. Donations for this work of practical Christianity, which may be earmarked if desired, for general relief purposes or for medical relief will be gladly received by the Lord Mayor of London, Mansion House, London, E.O..
